IND vs ENG: "Yashasvi was genuinely not comfortable from the word go" - Former cricketer's blunt take after Lord's Test

Summary

Yashasvi Jaiswal could only score 13 in the third Lord's Test, making it a forgettable experience in his short Test career

Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed for 87 at Edgbaston

Former India & Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener Robin Uthappa stated that opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was a bit confused and caught in two minds in India's tricky 193-run chase in the third Lord's Test. Chasing the modest target, the southpaw needed to get India off to a solid start. However, all the opener could manage was score a duck - his second fourth innings duck in the ongoing Test series against England.

Jaiswal could only score 13 in the first innings as well, making the Lord's Test a forgettable experience in his short Test career.  The opener was also dismissed by Jofra Archer in both his innings. The southpaw also looked at sea while facing Chris Woakes in the seaming and swinging Lord's conditions. After playing a maiden over from the bowler, the India batter wanted to take on Archer, but all he could do was mistime a pull, which was easily latched by wicketkeeper Jamie Smith, ending Jasiwal's horrible Test at Lord's.

"Yashasvi was genuinely not comfortable from the word go. You could see through the over that he was confused, so to speak, not clear. Maybe not confused, but just not clear as to how he wants to approach it. Because it was only 190 runs, I think he was half and half. It almost seemed like an afterthought, that shot," Uthappa said on his YouTube channel.

Yashasvi Jasiwal aims to make a roaring comeback in the remaining two Tests

With India trailing 1-2, Yashasvi Jaiswal will be looking to make a roaring comeback after his dismal outing in the Lord's Test. The southpaw, who started the Leeds Test with a century and followed with an 87-run knock in the second Test, needs to replicate that form and intensity in the remaining two Tests. Whenever the opener provides India with a blistering start, more or less, the hosts win.

The fourth Manchester Test will be played on July 23. The hosts need to win that Test to stay alive in the five-match Test series.
