Indian cricketers react on Pahalgam terror attack

Several Indian cricketers have condemned the unfortunate terrorist attacks in Pahalgam in Kashmir on Tuesday. As many as 26 people were killed and several injured in the shootout on Tuesday afternoon.

The people who lost their lives were mostly tourists. There are reports that a militant group shot them at gunpoint after asking their names and finding out that they were Hindus. This was another of those propaganda battles from the Muslim militant group.

The Pahalgam terror attack is the most serious terrorist attack in the valley of Kashmir since the Pulwama attack in 2019. The attack has moved one and all, and the Indian cricketers especially have condemned this incident.

Led by Shubman Gill, several present and former Indian cricketers have spoken out against the attack. Gautam Gambhir, Aakash Chopra, Parthiv Patel and others condemned the attack by reacting on social media.

"Heartbreaking to hear about the attack in Pahalgam. My prayers are with the victims and their families. Violence like this has no place in our country" said Shubman Gill on a post on X.

Former Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel expressed his anger at the incident and said that the people responsible for it will be punished.

Shocked and angry to hear what happened in Kashmir today. While those responsible will be punished, and I’m sure they will, right now there’s a numb disbelief at the terrible acts and the manner in which it all happened. Praying for the souls of those who lost their lives in Pahalgam.

Former Indian cricketer turned commentator Aakash Chopra reacted to the unfortunate incident, saying that it is an atrocious attempt to disrupt the peace in Kashmir.

"Unimaginable atrocity in Pahalgam. Heart goes out to the victims and their families. शान्ति। Hope the perpetrators (and their sympathisers) are identified, caught and given the punishment they deserve."

Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir, in his post, said that the country will strike back and the people responsible behind it will pay the price.

"Praying for the families of the deceased. Those responsible for this will pay. India will strike. #Pahalgam"

Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan said that the unfortunate attack in Pahalgam is a loss of humanity and the overall incident is heartbreaking.

"Every time an innocent life is lost, humanity loses. It’s heartbreaking to see and hear about what happened in Kashmir today. I was just there couple of days ago — this pain feels too close" he wrote on Twitter.

Virat Kohli, the former Indian skipper, shared an Instagram story to share his views on the Pahalgam attack.

"Deeply saddened by the heinous attack in Pahalgam on innocent people. Heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims. Praying for peace and strength to families of all those who lost their lives and justice to be served for this cruel act.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, accompanied by Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha, arrived in Srinagar on Tuesday evening. He was given a brief about the incident by J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in the presence of several other office bearers. Ami Shah also met several tourists who were injured and have been admitted to a local hospital where they are being treated.

The Indian Prime Minister, has also condemned the Pahalgam terror attack and said that serious actions will be taken against those involved in this heinous act.
